President's Page

1. The MTA is encouraging all members to vote "NO" on the Income Tax Repeal on Nov. 4, 2008.

2. Unit D has come to a tentative agreement and the ratification meeting has been set. The Unit E tentative agreement is still being finalized and the ratification meeting should be scheduled soon. Both sides have to edit and make sure that the agreement is correct.

3. The list of members to be honored at the CEA Retirement Party was distributed at the Board of Directors' meeting on May 21. If anyone is missing from the list, they should call me at 222-4766 by Friday, May 23. The list has to be sent to the MTA for certificates and bowls must be ordered.

4. The Retirement Party is scheduled for June 11 at the Cavalier Restaurant. It will start at 3:00 with retirees being honored at 4:30. Please make every effort to attend.

5. Since June 11th was the scheduled date for the last Board meeting, this meeting (May 21) will be the last one for the year. I will finish my tenure as President on June 30, 2008. It has been a pleasure to serve you as Vice-President for 3 years and President for the past 2 years. I know that the future of the CEA will be in good hands. I gladly hand over the gavel to Mr. William Howe, your new President. He takes office on July 1 so if any issues come up over the summer, you can call him or email him at whowe@chicopee.k12.ma.us. Thank you for all of your support and I will look back fondly on my years in the CEA and in Chicopee.
